I hope I’m not the only one who gets excited for the excuse to redecorate for a new season! Fall is one of my favourites with the changing leaves, cozy fabrics, yummy warm drinks, plus Thanksgiving and Halloween fun - what’s not to love? The fall season is also the start of spending more time in our homes as we cozy up before snowy winter weather begins, which makes it the perfect time to switch up the decor!
First thing’s first, what are some new fall trends to look for?
-
Moody greens, browns and terracotta are huge right now
-
Patterns like tweed, houndstooth, and plaids are seeing a revival this year
-
Textures are making a big statement right now in accents of velvets, jute, and sherpa
-
Having an eclectic mix of both modern simplicity with vintage accents (think modern tablescapes with brass and copper hidden throughout)
All in all fall’s trend-inspiration seems to be of our childhood right now with vintage trends being revived all around.
Now how can you transition your home from your light and bright summer decor to the cozy and moody trends for fall?
-
Start bringing in fall fabrics such as soft blankets, sherpa accents, etc
-
Replace bright tones with more muted colours such as terracotta, tan/brown, or green shades
-
Incorporating natural wood elements that are perfect for all seasons
-
Swap your brighter florals for greenery or dried options such as eucalyptus
-
If you are someone who loves scents start switching from citrus or fresh scents over to vanilla, rustic woodland smells or spices
